I led the content strategy and editorial development of brand-aligned thought leadership and sales enablement platforms—defining content pillars, crafting core narratives, and building a scalable system for high-impact assets that supported both awareness and conversion.

Background

Near the time of my arrival at Covanta, I inherited a blank slate. The company had no thought leadership content, no cohesive sales materials, and no creative assets to support its evolving positioning. To fill this gap, it needed a brand-aligned content and collateral platform built from the ground up. After months of cross-team collaboration to align the company’s foundational narratives, I was able to construct content development systems that could effectively drive awareness, educate the market, and empower the sales team.

Process

  • Content Landscape & Sales Discovery

    • Audited (the very limited) existing materials and identified critical gaps in thought leadership, creative assets, and sales enablement tools.

    • Interviewed sales, subject matter experts, and leadership to understand customer needs, buying stages, and positioning challenges.

    Platform & Narrative Development

    • Defined content pillars aligned to brand strategy and audience needs, designed to support both awareness and conversion.

    • Built a scalable editorial framework, including tone, structure, and topic taxonomy for consistent messaging across formats.

    • Developed messaging guides and asset maps to align content with the buyer journey and sales goals.

  • Thought Leadership Content Creation

    • Launched foundational content series, including blogs, videos, case studies, gated articles, ebooks, and educational campaigns tied to key industry themes.

    • Seamlessly migrated all legacy collateral and content into the new Reworld™ brand, updating terms, design, tone, and positioning.

    • Iteratively refined high-performing content based on sales feedback, performance metrics, and market trends.

Takeaway

This project showed me that building a content ecosystem from scratch requires more than just great writing and design—it takes strategic vision, deep collaboration, systems thinking, and time. I saw firsthand how strong editorial frameworks and aligned messaging can empower teams, scale effectively, and elevate both brand perception and business performance.
